Torrential Precipitation Worsen Circumstances for Displaced Residents of Gaza, Officials Caution
Persistent precipitation over the last seven days have compounded the already dire circumstances of the vast number of evacuated civilians in the territory, as reported by relief organizations.
"Awful" Weather Brings Serious Dangers
A spokesman described the previous night's conditions as "awful", with downpours so heavy that up to 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the streets.
"The recent weather was really difficult for the families. The storms were so intense... And the gusts were so strong," noted the representative.
Officials express extreme concern that minors living in temporary structures in soaked attire will contract hypothermia and other sicknesses.
Casualties and Widespread Destruction
Medical officials have reported that one baby has died from hypothermia and a minimum of 11 other people have died in building collapses caused by the storms.
Additional accounts put a higher death toll. Authorities stated that numerous structures had collapsed completely and scores had collapsed partially.

Aid Distribution Deemed Inadequate
Organizations have increased distribution of tents, blankets and clothing since the ceasefire commenced, but they stress there is continues to be not enough aid reaching those in need.
"Officials are striving constantly to bring in that relief and to hand it out, but the size of the needs is so immense that we are faced with a great number of families and minors who are really suffering nightly," cautioned one representative.
Future Challenges and Truce Provisions
The next stage of the truce involves arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the withdrawal of military forces, and other terms.
Aid groups have highlighted the imperative for "expanded and ongoing humanitarian assistance to respond to immediate and ongoing needs."
The hostilities was initiated by an offensive in October 2023. Following military operations have caused a substantial number of lives lost in the area, according to health ministry figures.
