Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his position following a further convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the club's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received significant backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points of course but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it is normal that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Response

Slot highlighted known weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a phase of this nature with performances so bad.”

He finished, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, prove again what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
